Abstract

The sensitivity, specificity, predict value, hit rate, and correlation with caries experience, were computed to evaluate caries predictive ability of modified Albans. Caries activity test(designed by Baik et al,1992). The modified Alban¢¥s caries activity test, was designed through standardization of measurement, modification of saliva sampling method, and alteration of pH and composition of medium. The score of modified Alban¢¥s caries activity test was estimated by three types of measuring method. The obtained results were as follows
1. Pearson correlation coefficient between caries experience and caries activity value ranged from 0.1345 to 0.3679.
2. It was estimated that maximum of hit rate was 0.69.
3. It was estimated that maximum of sensitivity was 0.91.
4. It was estimated that maximum of positive predict value was 0.71.
5. It was estimated that modified Alban¢¥s test was good for indicating low caries
6. There was no obvious difference of caries predictive ability among the various measuring method.
